June 4~ June 18
Footprint: Fiji
Done: I traveled to the main island and Yasawa group islands with a small backpack by myself in Fiji . Ha ha I was really a backpacker in Fiji . I drank the national drink in Fiji called “ Kava” six times; its taste was bit like disgusting Chinese herbal medicine. White sandy beaches, clear sea water, blue sky and a nap on hammock under the green coconut trees. What a lazy Fiji time!
Special Experinece: I fell in love with Yasawa group islands and Blue lagoon. Snorkeling with the shark was absolutely safe. The colorful coral reefs under the sea are stunning. Beautiful Fijian songs in Oarsman Bay on Nacula island were attracted to me.
June 19~ Julu 4, 2006
Footprint: Christchurch- Lake Wanaka- Christchurch
Done: Unemployeed in freezing Christchurch .
Talk more:I should have had stayed in warm Fiji for two months instead of two weeks only. I was very upset to return to snow caped New Zealand . It was too hard to get a job in Christchurch in winter.

Special Experience: I learned skiing in Cadrona Ski Field in Wanaka. I had hundreds of fell over, very exhausted but really challenging. How to stand up after falling over was the so difficult for the beginner, Jessie. >_
July,5 ~ Aug, 15, 2006
Footprint: Ashburton
Done: I worked in a lily bulb factory in Raikaia near Ashburton.
Special Experiences: 1. I got frost bite in the freezing lily bulb factory since the average temperature there was around 5 0C . It was a torture to my painful toes.
2. Visit Mt. Sunday where part of the Lord of Ring Series was shot.
3. My second time skiing was easier and more joyful.Lots of yummy meals in Cornation Holiday Park in Ashburton.

August 16~ August 31, 2006
Footprint: Christchurch-Arthur’s Pass –West Coast- Nelson- Lewis Pass- Kaikoura – Picton
Done: Traveling alone between west and east coast in south island
(West Coast: Trekking in awesome Abel Tasman National Park which is the easiest track with the coastal and forestry tracks in New Zealand . The are tens of shinny and golden beaches along the coastal track)
(East Coast: Walking on Kaikoura Penisula Coastal Track can overlook the blue coast and the snow capped mountains nearby in winter.)
Special Experiences: Plenty of hitch hiking from the west to east coast. It saved lots of money for my limited budget and was a very interesting to chat with different people who picked me up.

Sep 1~ Oct 02
Footprint: Hopewell Backpackers and Queen Charlotte Track in Marlborough Sounds
Done: My first 3 day- 50 km tramping in Queen Charlotte Track.
Special Experience : An exchanged job in No.1 hostel, Hopewell BBH, in New Zealand . The hosts’ smiles and treating guest with friendly mind are the best gifts for me. I will always remember our laughs in Hopewell everyday. Unlimited mussels, clams, huge oyster and delicious scallops near Hopewell make my mouth watering now. Soaking the hot spa, kayaking in Kenepuru Sounds and trekking to Pete’s Peak enriched my life in Hopewell
Plenty of itchy sand fly bites which not only drove me crazy in the midnight but also left hundreds of scars on my legs and arms.

Footprint: Hopewell-Wellington- Lake Taupo- Rotorua- Tauranga- Coromandel Penisula-Auckland-Bay of Islands-Northland- Cape Renga-Auckland.
Done: Traveling alone in North Island was really flexible.
Special Experiences:1. Sky diving from the airplane at 12,000 feet was very exciting and it was fantastic to overlook Lake Taupo from the sky.

2. Trekking on the snow at Tongariro Crossing Track was very impressive. However, 17 km trekking on the steep hills in 7 1/2 hours was so exhausted that my injured right knee became worse and worse.
Icy Emerald Lake@ Tongariro NP
3. Soaking in the smelly, and 420C hot spring pool in Rotorua relaxed my tired muscles after the trekking in Tongario Crossing Track. The geysers and colorful thermal park opened my eyes.
4. The hot water beach was amazing and almost burned my feet; Cathedral Cove was the master piece from God. If you visit Coromandel Penisula, no doubt you will love it!
